“But someone may say, “You [claim to] have faith and I have [good] works; show me your [alleged] faith without the works [if you can], and I will show you my faith by my works [that is, by what I do].” James 2:18 AMP
We all have faith. But some trust in systems, while others trust in God.
Every day you wake up to work, to earn a living, to change the world, you are expressing your faith.
“But by faith, you started that project you’re passionate about and made a difference”.
“But by faith, you did the work and helped your organisation meet their objectives”.
“But by faith, you [fill in the gap with an action and a result]“.
There has to be an action that will yield a result. What actions have you taken to make your declarations, beliefs, wishes and dreams come to pass (that is, give you the result you want)?
No one expresses faith by doing nothing. That’s dead faith. When you scream, “I have faith!” but then fold your hands and also say, “Jesus do something about this cos it’s none of my business”, then like the disciples in the boat that was about to capsize, you have “little faith”.
Faith and works go hand in hand.
When you say you have faith in God for a harvest and you plant a seed, you believe it will germinate and you will harvest. Just as James said in the verse above, that’s faith by your works.
But when you say you have faith in God for a harvest and stare at the seed in your hand without planting it, James says that faith is dead. Not that it doesn’t exist, it’s just not alive.
How you work will give you an understanding of the kind of faith you have.
God wants to express the benefits of faith through us. But we have to be ready to step up and yield so we can become the channel for exploits.
We have so many wishes that never turn into action. It’s time to act in whatever capacity we have been empowered with and watch the ripple effect we will create in the world.
