Can You Discern The Blessings Of God Around You?

I’ve seen projects blossom because someone new was added to the team and brought a unique set of gifts to the table. In most cases, the moment that person leaves, many things change.

Recognising the gems that God has placed on our path is a course that should be studied. The reason is that not many leaders can discern good talent. Many times, we judge people based on who we are. If the person isn’t like us, we can’t hire such a person.

This is why studying the first few months of a new hire is crucial to what will happen for the rest of the year. If you’re unable to quickly discern the kind of success that a new team member brings, it’ll be a struggle to place them in the right box. Eventually, it starts to look like they’re not pushing their weight.

Whether you’re a supervisor, manager or founder, every new team member is an opportunity to experience the blessing of the Lord. It now depends on where you place them and how you allow them to thrive.

Potiphar deserves accolades for recognising the rare blessing that Joseph brought with him. He could have placed Joseph in charge of a small section, for example, the kitchen. But he probably recognised that his entire administration needed a new touch and just left Joseph in charge, seeing that he also had the gift of managing people and resources.

Sometimes you as a leader may be far from God and have a hard time recognising God’s goodness at work. In His mercy, He sends someone close to Him to bring that blessing your way. When this happens, will you allow envy and your insecurities to get the best of you, or will you humble yourself and recognise that there is a higher power at work in your team?

Being able to see the success that person brings will further open your eyes to see how best he can be helped to reach his full potential.

Knowing good talent isn’t enough. We also need to start discerning the spiritual atmospheres of everyone around us. When talent meets God’s presence, your cup never stops overflowing with God’s blessings.
