Many times when we pray, we do so with our own will in mind. There are goals we want to achieve and desires we want to see manifest. So, we go to God in prayer, asking Him to do what we want. Sometimes we do it in a very polite way, hoping that will make it happen.
There’s nothing bad in this because God does answer especially if the time is right. But how many times have you given God the sole right to determine what happens to you, even when you can see that you won’t like the outcome?
There are times I have asked God to deliver me from terrible work cultures, monstrous tasks and annoying bosses. But deep down, I know that His will is to make me grow through those tough times. It has taken me years of growth to start seeing His will as good for me.
In the first part of this series, I stated that you become worthy of your work when you learn to resist temptation and pass tests. Here, the moral lesson is to place your will at the feet of the Father and let His will be done.
As we would do, Christ tried to negotiate his way out of the tough times. He didn’t impose His will and tried to be clever in psyching God to see if God saw things His way. But in the same breath, he knew what was at stake and changed his prayer.
So I ask, are you ready to place your will at the Lord’s feet, and ask His will to be done in your life? Don’t wait until you have to do this with life-altering decisions. Practice with smaller decisions and you’ll be made perfect.
Today’s Task: Pick a small work task today and ask for God’s opinion on how it should be executed.
