We were created for one purpose – fellowship. Everything that God intends for us to do revolves around that. Every action we take should express the sovereign power of God.
Unfortunately, our attention has been diverted from the truth to focus on the limited things in life. We dwell so much on the body’s needs that we forget to live from the inside out.
But as always, when there’s a will, God draws us closer. We may not fully understand what worship and fellowship do for God, but we don’t have to because we may not understand it.
Growing up, my siblings and I always carried lunch to school while our friends were given lunch money. I couldn’t understand why my parents didn’t give us lunch money, but they understood and kept at it. It took me a while to realise that it was their way of ensuring we still had food to it, even when they couldn’t afford to give us a monthly allowance. Today, I’m grateful to them for that decision.
We may not understand why worship is so important right now. But as we keep doing it, it’ll all come together, and we’ll be grateful we never stopped.
How do we worship God through work?
In school, when you are presented with an award at an event for being an exceptional student, your parents or guardian would be in the crowd, clapping and feeling accomplished. Why? You gave them their due respect by ensuring their efforts didn’t go to waste.
How do you think God feels when you do exceptional work? He’s also standing there, clapping and feeling proud of you. Merely expressing what He gave you is a form of reverence.
We worship God by being who He has called us to be.
We worship God by doing what He has called us to do.
We worship God by having what He has given us.

This is a personal call to action to define how you would like to reverence God. If you can take note of the changes you want to make in your life, so you stand for God better, it’s one step in the right direction.
