“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
Have you ever worked in an organisation and cursed the day you accepted their offer letter? In my days of ignorance, I did this. It took me a couple of years to realise that there was a better way.
On my way home from work on some days, I would look at everyone else and realise I was just as moody and angry as they were. The job was challenging, and the environment was toxic. I couldn’t imagine anything worse than that.
But then I learned the power of gratitude, and it felt like a veil was removed from my eyes. As I thanked God for my experiences, I began to see the things I was learning and the person I was becoming.
Gratitude didn’t change my boss’s personality or the environment’s toxicity. It changed how I reacted to it all.
We often feel that because we have prayed and given thanks to God, the circumstances should change. No, they won’t change that fast. Our reaction to current circumstances creates the change we seek.
How can we be constantly grateful as we work every day?
If staying joyful requires gratitude, then what does gratitude require?
The simple answer is THE TRUTH.
The more of God’s word we know, the easier it gets to remember why we should be grateful.
When we’re down and need a scripture for a particular situation, it is the parts of the scripture we have read or heard that the Holy Spirit brings to our remembrance.
But if you don’t go to church, watch sermons, read the Bible, or engage in Bible conversations, God, by His mercies, will need to lead you to a source of His Word so you see or hear something that starts your transformation.
When we take hold of God’s Word related to the circumstance we’re in and choose to believe what that Word says, the only thing left to do is to thank Him for the fulfilment of His word.
Knowing the truth sets us free from depression, sadness, discontentment, and ingratitude.
It is God’s will that we see every circumstance as an opportunity for God’s presence to be made manifest. This way, every day becomes a good day to work.
“I fill my mind with God’s Word so that the Truth sets me free.”
As you increase your exposure to sermons and songs founded on the Word, you increase the contents of your treasure chest.
This way, when you need to withdraw, you’ll have so much gold inside that you won’t know how to start thanking God.
