Power Up Your SPIRIT
“You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.”
Matthew 5:4 MSG
I’m not one to cry, but this beatitude from Jesus’ sermon on the mount brought tears to my eyes.
Sometimes we feel disconnected from God and the rule of thumb in such scenarios is that when you feel disconnected, especially through guilt, go to God, not run away.
It’s interesting to know that when we go to God to “mourn” over our disconnected state and the guilt we feel because of something we have done, He is still the one who embraces us.
It’s so refreshing to know this because it means God loves us regardless. All He wants is for us to come back to Him and receive strength to be better.
I can’t think of any other way to be a child than this. It makes me feel like we have a Father who genuinely cares and doesn’t want to stay disconnected.
He’d rather have you come back home from the late-night party you sneaked out to, instead of sending you back where you came from (as our earthly fathers do sometimes).
Do you feel disconnected from God and desire to reunite? He’s ready to embrace you, as He did me.

How does “mourning” over our state help us at work?
I have done some things at work that I’m not proud of to this day. During those times, I’d go to God and tell him how bad a leader I was.
Eventually, He’d help me get better by either not repeating the mistake or restoring the hearts of those I may have hurt.
The other day, I yelled at a team member because she took too long to deliver a task that didn’t meet expectations, despite the delay. I was so mad I went on a rant.
A few hours later, after the Holy Spirit had reprimanded me, I had to send her a message, apologizing for my actions.
God knew that I didn’t want pride and insecurity to get in the middle of my relationships at work and so He helped me after I had repented of that action.
It takes a lot of courage to run to God when we are in error because the adversary wants us to be consumed by guilt and stay far off. But that doesn’t serve us.
When you realise the power of always running to God when you do wrong, you will be surprised at how differently you work.
