“…for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” I Samuel 16:7 NKJV
A young Keyboardist refused to attend midweek service in his local Church one evening because resentment had grown in his heart, and he felt he wasn’t appreciated enough. While preparing to go to Church, his friend and roommate pleaded with him to come along, but he refused.
Then the Pastor called his phone repeatedly and this just made the young keyboardist even more angry, telling his friend that he needed to move on to better prospects. Unknown to him, the Pastor called because he was being pressured by contacts overseas to recommend a good keyboardist interested in relocating to the US to be a part of their ministry.
At the end of the service that day, the Pastor and the friend of the young keyboardist got talking and they noticed that a new keyboardist, who attended the church for the first time, was playing during the service. The Pastor sent for him.
In the presence of the friend, the Pastor extended the relocation offer to the first-timer, and he accepted gleefully. The friend, looking at the turn of events, shook his head continuously, feeling sorry for his roommate. The rest is history.
There’s nothing wrong with moving on and wanting new heights. There’s nothing wrong with leaving an environment that limits you to move to a place that challenges you. There’s nothing wrong with quitting what isn’t working to search for what will.
But the question behind all actions is, “Why?” When God checks the intent behind your noble action, will He qualify you for greater works or disqualify you?
If your work isn’t guided by the right intentions, pray about it and set things right.
Today’s Task: Check the intentions behind all you do and rewrite the ones that don’t seem right.
