At some point, we all have to ask ourselves if the work we do is worth the sacrifices we’re making. I had to do that yesterday.
No one works without giving part of their lives up. It could be time, family, money, freedom, rest or anything else that’s valuable to us.
This is why our expectations of what we want back from the work we do varies.
While some people just want consistent payment for their work done because of what they sacrifice, others want some level of freedom.
So whether you’re an employee or an entrepreneur, put your life on a scale. Check the sacrifices you’re making and see if the worth of the work you do measures up.
If it does, great! If it doesn’t, start searching for other options.
The sacrifice you make is an investment and what you get out of your work is the Return on Investment (ROI). So is your ROI positive?
Some people make all the money in the world, but are bankrupt in the area of rest. That’s a negative ROI in rest. And if rest is what they really desire instead of money, then a mistake has been made.
Revisit your life plan and see if you counted your costs well (Luke 14:28).
