Work By Faith

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

It’s so much easier for kids to believe in something than adults. When you promise the average toddler a pair of shoes, for example, that child can tell their friends that they have a new pair of shoes, even before receiving the gift.

This is why, as parents, when we intend to do something, we don’t tell the kids yet; otherwise, they’ll believe and act like it’s done, forcing us to fulfil our promises regardless.

This is how God wants us to act in faith. He wants us to receive the answer to that prayer request and walk in that reality even before it manifests. 

The disappointments and betrayals we have experienced as adults should not stop us from believing God’s word. Let’s have childlike faith again.

How can we work by faith?

A few years ago, I felt a pull to coach people who wanted to start passion projects. I did it once, and it was a very fulfilling experience. But I didn’t know what it could become. I needed to figure out how to continue. So, instead of returning to God, I paused it because I couldn’t figure everything out myself.

Many people don’t follow the path God has called them to because it can be difficult to form projections of the future.

We get scared of going broke, cannot describe the assignment to someone else, and feel sceptical about the future. And because God’s instructions are so important on such a journey, we wonder what He’ll ask us to do next.

These fears arise because faith isn’t present. Working according to God’s guidance without faith is impossible because it fuels the journey.

Now, even though I may form my projections of what the future could look like, I submit those projections at His feet because I know He has plans. I trust His guidance and continually ask for the willingness to follow instructions.

Each new day is an opportunity to trust God. We create our to-do lists, but we know that God can influence those plans, and we are okay with that.
