Power Up Your SPIRIT
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
I John 4:11 NKJV
Many of us don’t know how to love others, not because we have not received love from God but because we do not recognise it.
Whenever you recount the expressions of love that someone you’re close to has shown you, you not only say the words but also feel the emotions.
When you ask the average person to list God’s expressions of love to them, they may say things like, God protects me, God provides for me, but with flat emotions.
Can you list God’s expressions of love to you and recount those experiences with emotion? If you can do that, it becomes easier to love others, from a heart of gratitude for the love you have received.
Hack Your BODY
How can we love others at work?
When you know God’s expressions of love to you, it becomes easier to show compassion to the colleague who always falls short. You easily lend a helping hand to that team member who gossips about you.
None of this is easy. This is also a note to myself to love people more because I don’t have a formula for it. But I know that I’ve become more patient with people who seem to struggle with acquiring new skills and give people benefit of doubt. This wasn’t me many years ago.
Sometimes we may appear naive and stupid when we do these things, but that’s the case with unconditional love – the human mind can’t understand it.
We don’t just train ourselves to love. We are helped to love.
