“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalms 56:3 NKJV
Fear. I don’t like fear, not because it makes the hair on my back stand or because people say it is bad. I don’t like it because it stops me in my tracks when I know I should be moving.
Sometimes, it can be a good emotion that saves you from danger. But many times, it stops us from moving forward.
Even after identifying my fears, they still find a new way to manifest and block progress. I have learnt to never underestimate fear or to treat it as a minor enemy.
It’s a powerful foe that requires something more powerful to stop it. I’ve never been able to overcome it on my own. No matter how hard I try, my willpower always fails me.
But when I put a little bit of trust in God, I see fear move aside a little bit. When I add more trust, it moves aside some more.
Sometimes I forget to trust in God, and fear comes out to play. But when I remember, I am always glad because I see progress on all sides. My perspective on the situation changes, and fear seems to fade away. That’s how I want things to be.
How can we constantly trust God so that fear doesn’t stop progress at work?
Screaming “I am no longer a slave to fear” will not do anything for you until you add “I am a child of God.” Our identity in Christ reminds us of who to trust and why we can trust God.
Fear is the enemy’s weapon for closed-minded thinking. When we feel afraid, we do not see the many options available. Solutions look impossible, and we give up.
Those who have learned to fight fear with faith will always find a way out. And that’s exactly what Satan doesn’t want. He knows that faith leads us to explore the impossibilities and make them possible.
Just imagine who you could become if you did what others said was impossible. Imagine the exceptional work you’d do if you always reached into the realm of impossibilities for innovative solutions to complex problems.
Sometimes, to overcome fear, you must wake up one day and get tired of always running away from what you know you should run towards. When that happens and you turn to God, you become someone different.
You start to think, speak, feel, and act differently. It’s time to be different.
“I am tired of being fearful in these areas of my life…”
For months, I invested so much time into a project, and I started getting afraid that I would no longer have time for other activities that were dear to me.
One day, that changed because I turned to God. If there are situations in your life that keep you afraid, now is the time to list them out and show them the door.
