Since I got married, my wife has been singing the “I want to make Moi-Moi” psalm (moi-moi means bean cake), but she never got round to actually making it.
And it’s for good reason too. Peeling the skin off beans looks and feels like slavery. I never looked forward to doing it either, so I just listened and smiled whenever she started singing. Me? Moi-moi? Why? When I can just cook beans and disappear from the kitchen in less than 2 hours.
Lo and behold, just recently, she stumbled on a YouTube video by Sisi Yemmie which showed how to make the same meal by simply using a blender to peel off the skin.
Ha!
We watched the video with our mouths open. I suddenly felt like my blender has not been reaching its full potential.
Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” The first few times I read this scripture, it sounded like the knowledge spoke about here was life and death knowledge.
But it’s much simpler than that. To destroy or perish means to ruin. When you’re ignorant about a problem and you don’t search for the knowledge needed to help you solve it, you’ll never experience the solution.
And for a life full of problems, all you’ll be able to do is wish and complain. Nothing gets solved, things get worse, and you start to experience a gradual decay.
Successful people aren’t those without problems. Instead, they actively search out knowledge to solve the problems they encounter.
For every problem you see, there’s a knowledge you must gain to solve it. You can find this knowledge in books, courses, mentors, advisors, online content and my favourite, the Holy Spirit, who can easily direct you on where to go or what to do.
If there’s something you’re not getting right, go out in search of knowledge. You’ll find it.
