I believe God established the institution of family so we can replicate parenthood and do to our children what He does for us.
Growing up, many people never really appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of their parents or guardians. We may show gratitude a few times, but it never really sinks in.
Now as a parent, I have a clearer picture of what it means to raise a child and it just makes me understand my parents much more. I see myself striving to keep my family safe and to ensure they enjoy the blessings of the Lord.
God is committed to blessing us and keeping us safe. He isn’t double-minded about it. But as we grow up, independence sets in and we feel we are self-sufficient.
We work so hard believing that the job or business is the source. Then as we get older, we start to regret the things we were not able to do in life.
The same God who empowered us to work is the same God who delivers the blessing of work. Work is only a channel. It was never meant to be the source.
So, shift your focus from the work you’ve been empowered to do, to the one who empowered you – God. You’ll work differently.
How can we treat our work as only a channel and not the source?
When man was cursed to till the ground, it wasn’t his farming that produced fruits. The earth did. The seed was always on the earth. Man only caused growth through work. He can farm for one season and get massive produce and in another season, it’ll be less.
The seed of fruitfulness and childbearing was already placed in animals. Mating just facilitates it. Dogs can mate once and give birth to ten or two pups.
This is the same way work just facilitates the blessing. You can work on a project for one month and only receive payment for that project, or you can get more financial blessings beyond your work input.
Whenever I pray, I have learned to stop asking God to help me make enough money so I can buy what I need. It’s a limiting prayer. I only just say what I need and leave it at that.
Then God in His wisdom can cause me to receive that need as a gift, separate from the payment I’ll get from my client(s) for work done. So even when my income doesn’t increase, I have much more. He’s done this several times in my home.
This only happens when you stop worshipping the work you do and turn to the giver of that work. With this approach, you’ll do work with confidence and without feeling threatened by anything or anyone.

The work you do makes a more intangible impact than what you see. That intangible impact leads to blessings that come outside your paycheck. But you must acknowledge it.
Your mindset about money, effort, kindness towards others, your organisation and God influence the results you get. Just knowing that the blessing transcends your tangible effort gives hope.
