“And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain…Then He opened His mouth and taught them…” Matthew 5:1-2 NKJV
As long as you’re a source of light, you’ll have your multitudes. You’ll have people gravitate towards you to study, learn from or even imitate you. When they come, how do you help them?
A pulpit is simply an elevated platform from which the leader or teacher shares insights, instructions or judgement. In the Church, it’s where Pastors preach. It serves other purposes in other environments.
Everyone has an elevated platform that sets them higher and ahead so the multitude can see and hear them clearly. Unfortunately, we often avoid climbing this pulpit for fear of being seen, heard or judged by those we’re called to help.
As long as you have survived a challenge, overcome an obstacle, or made an achievement in life that someone else is yet to do, you become qualified to climb your pulpit. And without your permission, people will naturally run toward you to get what they can.
We sometimes overcome our craziest obstacles by simply admiring and imitating the life of a role model from afar. We achieve great things by doing what they do, even if we never directly communicate with them. You are also currently part of a multitude of people learning from someone else on their pulpit.
We all have the pulpits that we must climb when we use our talents to take action on our assignments and fulfil our purpose in every season of our lives. Staying hidden so your good work doesn’t shine forth will only cause your pulpit to gather dust. Eventually, the little you have can get taken from you (Matt. 13:12).
It’s time to dust off that pulpit and climb it. Multitudes are waiting to see how you work, live, and love. Decide to search within and leverage your talents for good work. Then you’ll see how your life blesses those who choose to be blessed by you.
