I don’t believe it’s possible to explore everything that has been deposited in us. As much as we want to die empty, having given all, I’d like to believe there’s always more.
I’m a big fan of experiments. I’m often eager to see what I’m capable of doing, especially if the activity leverages the personal strengths that I know of.
Work is simply a medium that allows us really explore what we are capable of doing. It’s a tool that aids creation. A perfect example is farming.
Using tractors, hoes, axes, and other tools make up the work activities for crop farming. But it’s only a means to an end.
The real creation comes when you see the wide expanse of land or the little garden in front of your house with every tree you originally planted.
But that’s not the end because the stems of those trees are eventually transformed into paper, home furniture and more.
And what does paper get transformed into? The list of transformations is endless.
Are you able to create while you work? To create doesn’t necessarily mean you must be an artist, architect or developer.
A Pilot creates new experiences for passengers every time he or she flies.
An Accountant creates easier ways to ensure the organisation knows their numbers so it can serve customers better. I know people who just love creating spreadsheets. I can never fathom it.
A watch repairer creates a new opportunity for the wristwatch owner to manage time better. His heart leaps every time a damaged wristwatch becomes functional again.
Your position, the type of work you do or your level of formal education doesn’t matter. You only need to be willing to keep unwrapping those gifts, in an environment that enables it.
Every day you work, stay curious. Sometimes, the breakthrough, fulfilment or happiness you’re looking for is hidden inside a gift that’s still sitting idle in you.
As long as you’re still alive, God isn’t done unwrapping you yet. So keep up the good work.
