The other day, while trying to declutter my cloud storage to create more space, I scrolled through my Google Photos and stumbled upon old screenshots from conversations with team members in an earlier company I led.
I had taken these screenshots to keep a record of the conversations, but when I revisited them, I realised just how much I had grown. In those interactions, I saw a younger version of myself, a leader who was quick to correct and caution.
Reflecting on the way I made those corrections, I recognised the growth I had undergone. It served as a reminder that wisdom and understanding are cultivated over time.
As we journey through life, we continually evolve. What we know today is a small comparison to what we will know in the future. The experiences we gather along the way shape and mould us, revealing the depth of wisdom we have or are yet to obtain.
How do we express godly wisdom while we work?
Getting wisdom is a humbling process. As I viewed those images, I was grateful for the person I had become and would still become. I could only echo a heartfelt “thank you” to God for my growth.
The anchor scripture reminds us that true wisdom is shown in how we live and treat others. It is not merely about our knowledge or ability to answer questions, but about the kingdom of heaven being experienced on earth through our actions.
Expressing godly wisdom while at work is simple—be intentional about actions that please God and serve others with love. This is vital to representing God on earth. As a leader, I have become more intentional in my interactions with colleagues and in guiding my teams.
While I am not perfect, I am deliberate in showing humility despite my experience. It’s an ongoing journey, and while my emotions may still get the best of me at times, I am increasingly intentional with my actions.
Being a wise leader is not about showcasing counsel or intelligence in a team meeting but about the humility and respect shown to others. It’s a constant battle against the desires of the flesh to boast and prove superiority.
Each day presents an opportunity for growth, and I expect that in the next 10 years, I will have grown even further in wisdom. This reminds me that we can never have an overabundance of wisdom, no matter our age.
I remain humble and wise in my work.
We don’t strive to prove superiority, but to live in a manner that aligns with God’s will. It’s a chance to reflect on past mistakes, acknowledge the growth, and kindle a desire for further wisdom.
The next 10 years will surpass the present as we seek to grow in wisdom. May this also serve as an opportunity to evaluate your journey, expressing gratitude for growth as you desire increased wisdom.
