“Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
One Sunday, I stayed back with my daughter after the service for a meeting, and I prepared various snacks for her. Throughout the meeting, she would come to me asking for different snacks, and I would give them to her, except for one snack that I decided to save for our trip home.
When she asked for that specific snack, I told her, “Not yet. When we’re heading home, I will give it to you.” She didn’t like that answer. Despite her crying and wailing, I held my ground until the right time, when I gave it to her. Once she got the snack in the car, she kept quiet.
This experience made me realise that often, we are like my daughter, and God is like me in that story. We ask God for things, and He sometimes gives us what we ask for immediately. However, there are times when He wants to give us something, but the timing isn’t right. In those moments, we may become impatient, just like my daughter, not understanding the timing of the answer.
The key point here is to keep asking. Just like my daughter persistently asked for her desired snack, we need to continue asking God for what we desire. The anchor scripture reassures us that when we ask, we will receive an answer. It may be a “yes,” a “not yet,” or even a “no,” but the important thing is that we will receive a response when we ask.
How can we ensure we never get tired of asking while we work?
There are times when we face deadlines, complex projects, or resource limitations, and we wonder how we will meet them. In those moments, we can turn to God in prayer, seeking His will and asking for guidance. Even if the answer doesn’t come immediately, we can trust that He hears us and will respond in His perfect timing.
It’s important to understand that when God answers, whether it’s a “yes,” “not yet,” or “no,” it provides us with direction for our next steps. If it’s “not yet” or “no,” we can go back to God for further guidance. Trusting in His will and timing helps us navigate the waiting period with patience and faith instead of wailing and fear.
So, don’t stop asking. Maintain your trust in God’s timing and His perfect will for your life. As you face challenges and pursue your dreams, remember that you are not alone. Keep asking, and you will receive.
“I choose to ask until I receive.”
It’s a declaration of faith. What are you asking God for today? No matter what it is, take it to God in prayer and keep asking. Understand His will through His Word, and trust that He hears you.
God is always listening, and in His time, you will receive an answer. When you understand and trust His will concerning your requests, the waiting period will be a time of rest and patient anticipation.
