Time And Chance

As I stood in front of a crowd of about 700 people, in an oversized suit, with a crooked bowtie and a microphone to my mouth, I bowed.

They all clapped to cheer me on. I was cute after all.

And then I started in my high pitch voice…

“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. My name is…”

In about 10 minutes, I had delivered a 4-page science paper on how an electric bell works, giving them a live demonstration with the small prototype in front of me.

I had to commit all 4 letter sized pages to memory because I wasn’t allowed to hold the paper on that day. My science teachers wouldn’t allow me.

The speech was a success and I bowed again. This was my second time of doing this. I had just turned 8 years old and this was our end-of-session party in school.

Nine years later, I gained admission into the University to study Pure Physics.

But by my third year, I knew I wasn’t going to practice it. I had found something else worth living for – the art of writing.

So how possible is it to make such a shift and still look sane?

“…time and chance happens to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11.

Everything you go through influences your future. You may not be able to figure out how, and that’s okay.

You may be scared to step out of the box that you’ve been used to for the past couple of years. It’s okay to feel afraid.

But trust the system of life that God has put in place. It was made and is working for your good.
