“If we declare that Jesus is the Son of God, we live in union with God and God lives in union with us.” 1 John 4:15 GNT
Have you ever stood up for something you believed in before? Perhaps you did a peaceful protest with your schoolmates. Or you and a group of colleagues decided to speak against a system that wasn’t favourable for company culture.
You’ll realise that in any scenario where you and a group of people have one mind towards something, it feels like there’s a spirit binding you all. You declare the same things, think the same way and perform almost the same actions.
This is the same thing when you declare the sonship of Jesus Christ. It suddenly feels like a spirit drives you. And when you see others with the same declaration, you blend in easily.
God is very intentional about the process. He knows that when you have a belief in your heart and declare with your mouth, you draw closer to Him and vice versa.
If you and I must be filled with God’s spirit for exploits, a unifying belief about who Jesus Christ is must bind us. And the more we talk about our beliefs, the more infilling we receive.
How can we declare the sonship of Jesus through our work?
God loves variety. This is why he didn’t create all animals to look like cute puppies or all trees to look like oak trees. Each creature has a unique expression of God’s gift. The same goes for us humans, His co-creators.
This means we don’t declare the sonship of Jesus the same way. I may do mine through writing while you do yours through marketing.
I find it difficult to meet a random person and talk about how Jesus Christ came to die for our sins, using the regular biblical story. I dislike doing this so much that I dodge evangelism exercises in Church whenever I can. Funny, right?
But when I stand in front of total strangers and talk about how my work is inspired by Jesus himself and share testimonies of God’s presence in my journey, I win more people over. It comes so naturally to me, that I can speak anywhere about this.
It’s the same message, but different styles. I know a branding professional who declares the sonship of Jesus through his rap music, and a counsellor who always prays with her clients and doesn’t waiver on it.
I know a consultant who uses biblical principles to help clients hit revenue goals, and he is always open to telling them where his strategies come from during his sessions.
You’ve been empowered for something exceptional. As you do those exploits, reveal to people how you do it. That’s the secret sauce.
“To boldly declare the sonship of Jesus and have Him influence my work, I have to spend more time with him. To do that, I must start the following…”
I’ve written several articles about integrating time spent with God into our daily lives. What’s important is that you do what works for your unique situation.
Spending time with God helps you recognise His moves in your work. And it becomes easier to share that story with others.
