“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV
What we say with our mouths is a revelation of what’s in our minds. God needs our minds to work a certain way so that His will for our lives is done.
Unfortunately, many of us believe that when we get saved, we’re good to go. We then entertain negative thoughts and lies and wonder why we’re not moving forward.
Paul says that if we’re going to do anything worthwhile here on earth, we have to start by fixing how our minds work. Yes, we are empowered by The Spirit of God (fuel), but without the right engine (the mind), we can’t convert that fuel to move forward. Your car just won’t start.
So don’t stop at confessing Jesus Christ as your saviour. Make your mind an asset that God can use for exploits.
How can we renew our minds so that God’s will is done through the work He has given us to do?
Remember that you’ve been empowered to do exceptional work. But exceptional won’t happen on its own. It’ll happen when you make this one word a part of your daily life:
Growth!
If you don’t develop new skills, explore better ways of thinking, learn new techniques and improve your character, you’ll do your work the same way until you become obsolete. God’s will can’t be done that way.
To renew the mind, we have to start thinking the right thoughts, believing the right truths, saying the right things, and taking the right actions.
God’s word contains the truth about who we are in Christ. Once we constantly build up our identity by knowing this truth, growth in all other aspects becomes more intentional because we suddenly believe we can learn anything and do the impossible.
“Today, I choose to renew my mind by…”
Start by identifying the truths you want to believe from God’s word. And then see what parts of your life negate this truth.
For example, if God says we are made perfect in Christ, but you still feel inadequate, then that’s something to transform. Take note of it and change what you say to yourself.
