What’s your growth plan?
Many times we’re made to feel guilty when we don’t take advantage of opportunities that others jump on. At that point, it makes us look lazy with no future ambition. I mean, ideally, every good opportunity that comes your way should be grabbed, right?
Wrong!
There are many times I’d say to myself, “wow, Mr A got that contract from that company, and there’s a window open that I can jump on. Let me create a proposal” and then the Holy Spirit says, “that’s not the audience you were sent to”.
Or sometimes I’d say, “I should take on this client or leverage this business opportunity like Mr A” and He says, “Not yet. Stay where you are”.
Sometimes it’s disheartening but everytime I look back, I’m grateful for the confusion and unrest I saved myself from. I know what it means to jump on something I should have let go of. It’s never pretty.
Does that mean I’m not growing? No. I’m just on a different growth plan from Mr A. There are times when I delay on an opportunity and He says, “Dude, you’re wasting time”.
I’ve learnt to feel secure and unmoved when someone gives me advice or presents an opportunity and I’m led to turn it down.
Don’t get me wrong, take advantage of opportunities at all cost. But when it doesn’t look like what you should jump on at this time, then move.
