In prison, when an inmate violates the rules, they go into isolation, spending several days alone in an enclosed space. When this happens, one of two things takes place: they either come out better or worse.
They come out better if they connect to a deeper sense of purpose while in isolation. They come out worse if they keep their minds empty.
When we sin, the devil plays the same card—he ensures we go into isolation. If we don’t connect with God and just feel guilty, we come out worse. But if we take time to reflect and ask for mercy, we will come out better.
The problem is that we’ve not learned how to fight the negative voices in our heads and open up to God. Most times, we enter our shells. This is why Jude talks about connection and not isolation.
We don’t trust God more and more on our own. We learn from others about how to trust God, and in the same way, we show others how to trust God too. So, the question is…
How can we ensure we don’t work alone?
Doing work in isolation, no matter how divine and noble it is, will not move as fast as someone in a community of people supporting one another.
This is why people create masterminds and other types of support groups and communities, so that there is collective growth. Forward-thinking churches also drive this.
Imagine being in a community of believers who know they’ve been empowered by God, just like you have, to do something exceptional, and it’s only possible by supporting one another. You’ll not only preserve your faith, but you’ll also gain the kind of access that God has for you.
It’s possible that working from home has engineered isolation into the fabric of work. But there are still people who, despite not stepping out of their homes, connect with people like them daily.
God has placed someone in your circle to strengthen you on this journey. Find the circle and find the person.

In 2023, I had an accountability partner from Asia with whom I had some Zoom calls over a couple of weeks. It was short, but the benefits have stayed with me.
Identify ways that you can connect with others like you so that your faith is preserved and your work is strengthened.
