“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalms 46:10 NKJV
I learned early from many accomplished entrepreneurs that the first hours should be used to accomplish something personal to you. For someone who runs a service business, works in an organisation or has a ton of responsibilities he said yes to, this is good advice.
Did I implement it immediately when I heard it? Not exactly, but ever since I started, those have been my most prized moments. Using the first moments to reflect, pray and do something you care about gives you a stillness you’ll never experience once you start answering phone calls.
It is in those moments of stillness that you get to see how God has helped you on your journey because it’s very tempting to believe that you’re not moving just because you haven’t arrived at your destination.
Studies show that doing activities that align with your values brings more positivity, helps you stay happy and reduces the stress you feel. So, we can say that if what you do for the rest of the day has nothing to do with your passions or interests, those personal moments in the morning have set you up for a fulfilling day already.
The intense stress we feel all through the day is partly because we spend every waking moment meeting the demands of others. We can flip that switch and get set up for success in the morning. It has worked great for me, and it can work for you too.
Today’s Task: Find something that gives you a sense of fulfilment and get it done in the morning from tomorrow. Your current lifestyle will influence how much time you can spend on it, but get it done first. You’ll be glad you did.
How do you start your day? I’d love to hear it.
