Everyone on a mission is always looking for and making use of that leverage that makes them extraordinary. We’ve understood that just doing what everyone else does won’t make us different. It won’t give us the results we want or help us move faster toward our goals. So, we strive to get that “extra”.
This “extra” could be anything. It could be a relationship, a skill, new knowledge, heightened spirituality, demonic powers, or a new degree. This is what births competition and causes us to always try to outdo one another.
With the malicious approach we have towards competition, it is easy to believe that we must move over to the dark side to win. But I’ve come to realize, through the lives of many people, that leveraging on your unique spiritual gifts can give you all the ingredients you need to compete and win collaboratively.
Because of the gifts we have, we can’t all look, speak or act the same. As Christians, we have spiritual gifts that make us different in whatever we do.
Imagine a Doctor with the gift of healing. He’ll record more successful recoveries than his colleagues because he’s able to treat his patients with his skills and in some cases, quicken their recovery with the power of God in him.
How about a Business Consultant with the gift of the word of knowledge and wisdom? She’ll know details about the problems in your business even before you say a word and can set you in the right direction.
Don’t trivialize the gift that is growing within you. And don’t think it is not relevant to what you do. Aside from your natural gifts, spiritual gifts are not just meant for the four walls of the church. They’re present to empower you at work and in life as you show forth God’s power. Find and use them.
