“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NKJV
Every superhero movie follows a similar plot: a regular person is empowered by something, transforming into a superhuman. It may be new knowledge, genetic manipulation, or encountering something that changes their life.
Likewise, the scripture tells us that we are empowered when we receive the Holy Spirit. We become capable of extraordinary things. This power is not limited to a select few; it is available to everyone who believes in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit empowers us to fulfil our assignments on earth. We gain new strengths, wisdom, and understanding. We receive guidance, direction, and the ability to please God and serve others. We struggle to fulfil our calling without this empowerment. By yielding to the power of the Holy Spirit, we can easily flow into God’s purpose for us.
How does the Holy Spirit influence the work God has called us to do?
Despite feeling burdened and sensing a call from within, fear and anxiety often prevent us from acting. The Holy Spirit enables us to overcome these obstacles and step into our calling. We may feel inadequate, but by intentionally submitting, we can experience the empowerment we have received. The Holy Spirit influences and empowers us to do the work God has called us to do.
The enemy seeks to hinder us from fulfilling our assignments and living fulfilled lives because he knows that if we walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, he loses. God desires that we become who He has created us to be, and to do that, we must walk in the power we have received. This power is necessary because our skills, knowledge, ability, and qualifications are insufficient to do what God has called us to do.
Before God called us, the resources were already provided through the Holy Spirit. We must recognise that we have everything we need to overcome fear and anxiety and start the passion projects God has placed in our hearts. We are called to take baby steps and become all God wants us to be.
“I choose to overcome what is holding me back and walk in the empowerment I have received.”
We must stop being held back by feelings of inadequacy and step into the adventure and journey that God has laid out for us. Take stock of the desires in your heart, the problems you see, and the solutions you think and talk about. Then, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in the best way to get started.
All that is needed from us is belief. Believe that we can become all God wants us to be, that we have been created to please God and serve others, and that we are already empowered for the work God has given us. When we believe, everything becomes possible, for we serve a God of possibilities. Today and every day, let us choose to believe.
