The work you do is only important when it produces results. No one gets celebrated for effort.
It can be tempting to bask in the fact that you do a lot of work, regardless of whether or not it’s fruitful.
Products and services are sold with a promise of results. And people pay for the results they want to get.
At the same time, results aren’t only meant for those who pay.
This is where the power of free comes in – give something small with no cost attached; let the customer get a result; don’t pull your hair out if the customer doesn’t upgrade to a paid option.
For people who benefit from you for free, but refuse to purchase a paid product or service, don’t fret. All you need to do is create a referral package that only requires them to spread the good news about the results they got.
Does this work? Well, Joseph did this in Genesis 40:14.
Even though it took the butler two years before he used his referral package, the only reason he used it was because Joseph’s free service solved an actual problem and produced a viable result.
Now since there was someone of importance who had the same problem and needed a solution, the butler could think of no one better than the guy who helped him for free.
So you see, free customers aren’t a waste of time, but you gotta get them results and tell them to refer you (emphasis on “tell them”).
