“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 NKJV
Have you realised that it can get so difficult trying to achieve the kind of success you desire in your field? It’s like you really have to put in crazy work to get results.
The truth is that the universe has been programmed to ensure that anyone who wants to access its code base and plugin to its power must be ready to overhaul their programming from birth.
What do I mean?
Every form of success has a cross that must be carried. So many people weren’t brought up to carry crosses but to run away from them, thus the need for reprogramming.
A cross is a form of discipline that must be endured to birth a new, advanced, superpowered version of you.
According to what Jesus Christ said in the anchor scripture, if you don’t have a cross to carry, you can’t be a partaker of His power.
How can we recode our minds to embrace the crosses that deliver exceptional work?
First of all, no one has forced us to be successful. We pressure ourselves for that. This is why Jesus started with, “If anyone desires…”
It starts with the desire to become and want more. This is the starting point for everything else. Once the desire is there, it’s easier to embrace what comes after.
But we often desire what other people have and not what God has for us. When our desires aren’t aligned with God’s will and we want to be like someone else, having what they have, we usually don’t have the stamina to carry their crosses.
But when our desires are birthed from within, as placed there by God, we are more willing to deny ourselves the instant gratification that could deprive us of that future glory.
At different points, we will encourage ourselves to go further, but it’ll be because that success has been designed for us rather than because we’re going after something intended for someone else.
“I embrace the discipline required for my success.”
Success isn’t measured just by what you possess but also by who you become. What has God fashioned for you, and how do you need to sacrifice instant gratification to get it?
Ask God in the place of prayer to open your eyes so you can see what He has prepared for you ahead. Then, as you work daily, the path will become clearer, and you’re more likely to bear the crosses required.
