Ready To Nurture Those You Lead? Here’s How

“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.” John 17:6 NKJV

We now live in an era where social media makes it easy to reveal the behind-the-scenes of our lives. We have the opportunity to be vulnerable, connect with others and share what we believe is our message either the world. The good thing is this isn’t restricted to public speakers or teachers, but anyone with access to a mobile device and Internet connection can wield influence.

But my question is, how many actually nurture those they lead?

To nurture is to give the right food. Many of us give advice out of the trauma of our past and end up misleading those who care to listen to us. The message we share ends up flawed with emotions like hate, pride and more.

To give the right food is to get your source right. The foundation of what you share shouldn’t be what other people tell you to do but the burden you feel. Many times, what you carry as a burden is deeply connected to your passion and purpose. It becomes God’s message to people through you. If they accept it, they have kept His word. You were only a channel.

To nurture is to sacrifice ownership. You are not entitled to the audience you have. “They were yours, You gave them to me”, was Christ’s way of telling God that He has no claim over the souls that decided to follow up. Because of the mere fact that those souls were given to Him, He had the responsibility to take care of them well.

This is the same thing with you. Once you understand that those who come to you aren’t yours to own, their presence is a gift to cherish and care for.

To nurture is to produce results, in other words, manifest what God has given you so others can see and feel the power of God through you. I am not referring to miracles here, but everyday exploits as expected of us in career and life.

God receives the glory when you as the leader are full of manifestations. You’re not a dormant volcano built to lock up all that power inside of you. A volcano manifests when it lets out the larva in it. Don’t box up your talents and then wonder why you have no relevance. Everything you need to produce results has been placed inside you.

Leadership is no longer restricted to who you are in your organisation, ministry or any organisation. Anyone anywhere can become a leader almost overnight, thanks to the democratisation of influence through the Internet. But if you must lead, then you have a responsibility to nurture.
