There’s a belief that once you discover your passion and you start getting paid to do what you love, you’re going to experience financial success.
Yes, you will experience other forms of success and feel more fulfilled, but if you don’t understand the value you bring to the table, your passion will be taken for granted.
The risk is, because you know that you can do the work almost for free (after all, you love doing it), you won’t bother too much about assigning premium value to it, especially when your results are actually worth a premium.
Do this for a while and you’ll start to experience the frustration and fatigue that comes with running an unprofitable venture.
Once people know that delivering on your work comes easy to you, they will want to place lower value on it. People will always do what’s convenient for them. It’s important you also do what’s convenient for you.
Placing value on what you do can be learnt. If you don’t learn it through formal education, you’ll learn it from experience.
