“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” I Corinthians 1:10 NKJV
When God decided to make man in Genesis 1, it had to be an agreement between Father, Son, and Spirit. He said, “Let us make man…” If there was any form of division, the creation of man may not have happened.
A divided house cannot stand. This is why the enemy is out to destroy homes and organisations that seek God’s will to be done on earth. He sets the hearts of parents against one another in the presence of children while also infusing greed and evil politics in top managers.
No vision can be accomplished when there’s division. And this is why Paul addressed the matter head-on.
James 1:8 also says, “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” The inability to make a decision and stand by it because of the presence of options leads to stagnancy and not progress.
How does unity influence excellent work?
My wife and I lead a fellowship in our local church, and we always emphasise the importance of having a united front with our executive team.
When there’s a division at the top, those who follow will recognise it, and we will be unable to influence decisions.
Whenever we have a meeting and it looks like one team member has a different opinion, reaching a middle ground that everyone aligns with means we can push an agenda with one mind and an energy the enemy can’t fight.
It’s the same thing in business. I don’t execute a company-wide policy without ensuring alignment with those at the top who will lead it.
Excellence in creative work goes beyond the fact that we can create. Our mind, body, and spirit work together to manifest inventions physically. Once there’s internal conflict and our body refuses to respond at the speed our mind requires, perhaps due to illness, nothing gets done. So unity is super important.
“I align with God’s will.”

Seeking first the kingdom of God is a way to stay united with God and what He plans to do through us. Division is an attack; let’s address it as such.
