“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth… For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 NKJV
As believers, we have an arsenal in God’s word. It doesn’t matter what we may be going through or what may cause us anxiety; there’s always a solution in the Word. But it’s our responsibility to search it out and keep saying it for the success we anticipate manifesting.
With barely 4 hours of sleep, I started my day quite cranky. My daughter had an upset stomach, which delayed morning school runs, thus disrupting my day.
I remember going crazy at a bike man who tried to cut me off on the road as I drove back home from dropping my daughter off at school, and the Holy Spirit told me clearly, “Did you have to react?”
After several hours of work and a small nap in the afternoon, I needed to prepare for a client meeting, which I dreaded. This was a difficult client who always had demands but didn’t hesitate to disrupt my agency’s workflow with delayed feedback to requests. Let’s just say I didn’t like the client, but I needed to spearhead the strategy meeting.
One hour before the meeting, I realised I had approached the situation the wrong way and started praying in the spirit. Then Isaiah 11:2 dropped into my heart. I began repeating it because it was part of our family declaration.
“I rule by the Spirit, for I am taught by the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord empowers me; The Spirit of wisdom and understanding; The Spirit of counsel and might; The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”
It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit works with us. Sometimes, all that’s required is for us to start, and He steps in, giving us the right thing to say.
Five minutes before the meeting, the scripture that changed my countenance and gave me the boldness I needed dropped in my heart.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7 NKJV
I switched scriptures immediately, constantly repeating this and praying for God’s love to fill my heart concerning the client. With my heart still racing, I entered the meeting feeling better.
After 2.5 hours of conversations and presentations, we all left the meeting smiling and accomplished. It was successful, and the client was even more pleasant than I had expected.
Could this experience have turned out even better if I had meditated and received direct instructions on what to do? Probably yes. But the point is that just declaring the Word and genuinely putting our emotions aside works wonders.
