“Meanwhile, these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 GNT
Imagine you’re taking a long trip with your family to a resort for a vacation. Three components play out:
– Faith. You all believe you’ll have a great time on the vacation. You banter about all the food you’ll eat and the people you’ll meet. You show gratitude for the ability to have the vacation and can smell the atmosphere and tasty food already.
– Hope. You know you’re driving a car, and vehicles can be unpredictable. But you have much hope that it’ll take you to your destination. You hope that the resort will be as seen online.
– Love. On the way to the resort, you laugh, play and speak with each other with love. You don’t abandon anyone on the road because of little sibling squabbles. You share meals and take turns changing the baby’s diaper so that no single person feels overwhelmed.
Life is a long trip, and the memories we create daily make it worth living. Love is the engine that keeps it going. With love, you make it easy for someone else to have hope and faith.
All three ingredients will help us get what we want out of life, but when we have the Holy Spirit and allow Him to teach us the God-kind of love, we love ourselves more and draw others to God.
How can we share God’s gift of love at work?
The answer to this is quite simple. We must see others the way God sees us. How does God see us?
- He sees us as His children whom He is responsible for
- He sees us through the lens of Jesus and has already forgiven us ahead
- He sees us as partners who will bring the kingdom of heaven to earth
- He sees us as trustworthy vessels that can do His will
The list is inexhaustible, but what does this mean for us?
- We need to see others as humans too that need care
- We need to learn to allow people to make mistakes while loving them regardless.
- We need to see people as collaborators and not competitors
- We need to trust that nobody is daft, but that they can also be great.
It takes a lot to have and express God’s kind of love. This is why we walk daily towards perfection. The intent to be a better person is what counts.

We have regrets and wish we never took some actions. But making mistakes and learning from them is what makes us grow. If we knew better, we would do better.
