SPIRIT
“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.”
James 5:13 NKJV
In January 2017, I was in what I would regard as the biggest mess of my life. I built a network marketing team of hundreds of downlines for a crypto company, and the system favoured those who could get more downlines and upgrade fast. With good marketing, I was able to help my team get downlines.
But something terrible happened that left me helpless. My team could not upgrade, and accounts started expiring by the hour. Either the company’s software had a glitch, or the devil just had me in mind that period. My DM didn’t stop buzzing, and some turned against me, saying I was a fraud.
That night, I wept in prayer and asked God to make a way out of this wilderness for me. The next day, while having an unrelated conversation with my parents in the living room, I had a lightbulb moment. It was as if someone whispered in my right ear.
I ran into my room (which doubled as my home office), switched on my laptop and in less than one hour, I hacked a solution that restored accounts. Till today, I don’t know what I did, but it worked. From then on, the Holy Spirit became my ultimate hacker, giving me solutions to seemingly impossible problems.
What’s that insurmountable obstacle that you feel is hard to overcome? Pray about it.
BODY
How does being cheerful and singing psalms help you work better?
You don’t have to wait until you’re cheerful before singing psalms. Sometimes, singing brings out cheerfulness from wherever it may be hiding.
In my home, we have a speaker that plays Christian songs throughout the day. Why? The atmosphere around you can dictate how you think, feel, speak, and act. On days we forget to turn on the speaker, there’s a difference.
Saturating the environment with such sounds makes us unconsciously sing along and sometimes dance to what is playing. But beyond that, because my wife and I work from home, it conditions how we respond to actions that would otherwise negatively affect us. This doesn’t mean work will always be rosy, but work flows better.
Try it and see.

Aside from playing music either from a speaker or headphones depending on where you work, the physical items around you, or even your smartphone can distract you.
For example, notifications are mute on my phone, and I try to create focus blocks for tasks. What’s your productivity hack?
