As much as you want to do work that helps you live fulfilled every day, some days will go sideways. On some days, your morning routine will be disrupted. On others, you’ll have emergency fires to put out that have nothing to do with work.
On some days, you won’t feel excited getting out of bed. On others, there’s just that one monster task that makes the entire pot of soup taste sour.
Deciding to leverage your talents and pursue a career path that you will thrive in doesn’t mean you won’t face difficulties and unforeseen circumstances. It just means that regardless of where the strong wind comes from, you know where you must stand.
We know that each day is a new opportunity to explore and rejoice because God made it so. So whenever unplanned events happen, we know it’s just for a time.
Today is one of those days where nothing has gone as planned. From the moment I opened my eyes, something just flipped the day upside down. With almost half the day gone, I had to sit to write this because even though I would love to say that doing something you’re passionate about will make life rosy, you really can’t stop life from happening.
As humans, we only have control over our actions which in turn influence future events. But as for what each day holds, we can do our best to plan, and trust that God has our backs when things spin out of control.
Will such days happen frequently? Only God knows, but every new hour is an opportunity to do something meaningful, no matter how small. For you, it could be saying a short prayer, calling an old friend, showing random kindness, making a decision you’ve avoided for a while or even just resting (without feeling guilty ofcourse). For me, that means ensuring I mark something off my to-do list, even if it’s just publishing today’s newsletter…#winks.
