“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?” Matthew 6:26 AMP
The difference between limited supply and unlimited supply is the source.
Consider this:
In a big village, the inhabitants always had to walk to a river at the end of the village to get access to water. It was here they would have their bathe, wash clothes, swim and get water for cooking.
One fateful day, an Engineer arrived at the village and saw how far these villagers had to walk in order to access water. Considering that he was in this village for a few years on missionary work, he decided to make it his goal to build a system that supplied water in their individual homes.
Months turned into years and finally, the project was completed. There was a huge tank in the center of the village from which pipes delivered water to their houses. The villagers were overjoyed and always ensured the tank was properly maintained. Nobody had any reason to head to the river anymore.
About a century later, the tank which was once taken care of began to depreciate until it stopped supplying water. The villagers lamented, cried and eventually started struggling to have water.
They now depended solely on the rain for water supply. In rainy seasons, they would rush to store water and in dry seasons, those who had lots of water would sell it to others.
No one remembered that there was a river far away at the end of the village with an unlimited water supply.
No one remembered that the source of water in the tank was the river.
No one realised that the connection between the tank and the river was faulty and just needed repair.
Everyone looked to the tank as the source, which was limited in its supply.
The laws and inventions of men have unknowingly placed several tanks in our lives thus caging our minds and limiting the supply of whatever it is we have.
Like the villagers, we look at our careers and the work that we do as our tank – our limited supply of wealth. Take care of the tank and it will take care of you.
Because of this, the connection to the real source – God – has been severed and so whenever our tank occasionally reduces the supply of what we want, we become anxious, frantic and hopeless.
Work is only a channel for prosperity. It is not the source. The birds don’t need a tank because their connection to the source is intact.
Service the tank daily, but stay connected to the source.
