The popularity of the Google search engine proves one thing: we all have questions.
Every day, we’re powering up our devices and typing keywords into Google so we can scratch that itch, solve that problem or just know more.
This makes me wonder how we searched for knowledge before search engines.
Anyway, this self-sustaining way to find answers has led to something: more self-reliance and less God-reliance.
Even when we search online for answers, that still doesn’t mean reliance on God because we are simply seeking more earthly wisdom to solve that problem.
As someone who is self-taught, I learned most of my skills today through simple Google searches. In fact, it got so bad that I would only ask the Holy Spirit for answers when I’m at my wit’s end and Google results didn’t give me anything satisfactory.
Am I saying searching online for answers is bad? No. But there’s a better way.
You see, online research for knowledge is a rabbit hole. It takes you on a path and you determine when and where you want to stop. Sometimes you stop at bad advice, and sometimes you stop at good advice.
Sometimes, you even stop at divinely inspired advice. But that doesn’t mean it’s for you.
What we need is to know the right way to go as we go down that path. What this means is simple. Even before you commence typing your never-ending questions into Google, pray for direction as you research.
That simple guidance alone will prevent you from opening search results you have no business with and can lead you even to the 3rd page of Google just so you hit jackpot. He can influence your search terms and what you click on.
God will not determine the search results for you. The algorithms do that. But that hand-holding effect is second to none.
Don’t underestimate the power of direction.
