Growing up, the low self esteem I had was contagious. AllĀ focus was so much on the things I couldn’t do or wasn’t good at, that my strengths took the back bench.
It was so bad that a guy told me we couldn’t be friends because I wasn’t confident enough for him. I cried that day.
It wasn’t until 200 level in the University, when I started confronting the negative thoughts, that the talents, skills and the strengths I had started running the show. It was at that point I learned to say, “Lord, I need help. Give me strength to do this” whenever I received an instruction or added responsibility.
This alone has helped me build capacity so much so that you won’t know my confidence struggles unless you decided to poke certain parts of my life.
This is why the only way I know how to help others channel their inner resources to build passion projects and do good work is to infuse the God factor.
It’s okay to not know what you’re good at or where you’re headed in life. But it’s not okay to believe you have to figure it out on your own. Your work is worship. So why not get it right by asking Him. You’ll be more fulfilled that way.
