When you think you have nothing to do, you’re actually doing something.
The only difference is, whatever activity you’re engaged in does little to nothing in helping you reach your goals.
Some idle activities include counting the clouds and blankly staring into space.
Others include walking around without a destination, counting the grass outside your house, watching how the hen walks across the road, playing with your phone, etc.
These are all activities, but because you have zero value for your time at that point, someone who has more value for time will use you for his own work.
Why?
Because your being was created as a work machine, using time as fuel to create value that gets recycled in the universe, thereby sustaining life.
Why else did God put Adam in the garden? To eat fruits?
Even the devil knows this. So he’ll wait for you to first produce some value from your time, and when he doesn’t see progress, he’ll give you something to do. That’s when you become his workshop (Proverbs 16:27 TLB).
Your time is fuel. Use it to do good work.
