SPIRIT
“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 GNT
For a long time, I carried heavy loads. I took on more than I could manage, felt trapped by the opinions of others, and set unrealistic standards for myself that I clearly couldn’t meet. It was a battle, and I was the only one fighting.
You will think being a Christian means total reliance on Jesus. I thought I totally relied on Him until the Holy Spirit showed me clearly that I wasn’t.
The load on my shoulders kept increasing and eight years in, I couldn’t take it anymore. It was at that point that I started unpacking.
Unpacking didn’t mean letting go of the responsibilities I had. Instead, just truly telling God that I needed help and allowing the Holy Spirit to change my thoughts made me gradually feel lighter.
It was a lot of unpacking because even after 18 months, I was still unpacking, and I still am.
What do you need to unpack so that you work from a place of rest? Ask God for help, and He will step in.
BODY
How can I work from rest despite my chaotic work schedule?
Rest here doesn’t necessarily mean being able to sleep long hours or chilling by the beach as you have a Zoom meeting. It’s more related to the state of your heart – your heart posture.
Do you feel connected to God while you work? Do you feel at peace with yourself and the decisions you’ve made or are making? Are you filled with joy so much that you are deeply grateful for life and what you have? In the Kingdom of God, this is rest.
If you make rest a priority, you will realise that it will influence your decisions. A new project that could take away your peace can come your way. Instead of just jumping at it, you’ll pray for peace to reign, or you’ll simply turn it down because you have passed the decision through the “Rest filter”.
So, start from within, and the external factors will adjust.

“The greatest opportunity in my life right now that I am so grateful for is…”

Let’s activate some gratitude this morning. The mystery of joy is that if you count your blessings and name them one by one, your joy grows.
So, do that today. Write your answer down so that tomorrow, you can refresh your memory by looking at it.
