“Therefore, take the talent from him and give it to him who has 10 talents. For to everyone who has more will be given, and he will have abundance. But from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 25:28–30 NKJV
We understand that the gifts we possess are not our own, but they are given to us by God to fulfil a higher purpose. We’ve delved into the importance of renewing our minds to pursue the right things and not letting fear hinder our actions. We’ve also learned the significance of leveraging time, people, and technology to maximise our work efficiency and effectiveness.
In this final part of the series, the anchor scripture emphasises the principle of abundance and the ability to multiply what we have been given. The parable of the talents illustrates how those who faithfully multiply their talents are granted even more, while those who neglect their gifts suffer loss.
It’s evident that God desires us to expand according to the capacity He has placed within us. He has given us everything we need, and it’s our responsibility to use these resources for His glory. The master in the parable didn’t take back the profits from the servants. Instead, he rewarded those who expanded their capacity and used their resources effectively.
How can we work with this consciousness that God has given us everything we need?
We are called to recognise the resources we’ve been empowered with and use them to create solutions and blessings for others. By doing so, we open ourselves up to more opportunities and abundance. Just imagine being in a field with several customers but a limited number of businesses that can serve them. If one person does not use their resources to fulfil the needs of the consumers, the others gain access to the entire market.
God’s grace gives us continuous opportunities to make use of the resources at our disposal. Even if we’ve previously neglected them, today is a new chance to start afresh. The promise of living in abundance and receiving even more is a powerful motivation for us to steward our resources faithfully.
“I have abundance.”
This activates a mindset that enables us to recognise the opportunities around us. Our eyes are opened to the resources we possess, and we learn how to use them for greater blessings.
