Power Up Your SPIRIT
“Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.”
Psalms 105:1 NLT
In church, whenever I stand on the altar to invite members to give testimonies, I would say, “When you tell others about God’s goodness in your life, you strengthen the faith of others”.
The fact is that telling the world what God has done for you has two benefits, and God is particularly interested in the second one:
- You activate more blessings in your life. Gratitude activates God’s established laws to work in your favour. It’s almost automatic. Thank God for that increase in income and you’ll experience more blessings. Simple.
- You give someone else an opportunity to partake in the blessings. We’re here to lift each other, and the words of your mouth can do just that. By sharing your experience, whether it’s in the Church, with a colleague at work or in an email like this one, someone gets strengthened and God receives the praise.
This is how we give thanks to God and proclaim His greatness at the same time.
So, praise Him. Proclaim His name. Promote Him.

Will talking about Jesus negatively affect your work?
One thing I made up my mind to do was to let people at work know that I am a Christian. I didn’t shout it out at a corporate meeting or take a megaphone to work, but I made my stance clear.
For example, since the beginning of my career, I told my boss that I don’t work on Sundays because I’ll be active in Church. He said that he understood yet tried a couple of times to call me or request deliverables on Sunday, but I continuously repeated it until he stopped. I didn’t care what happened because of that boundary.
I understand that my method may not work for everyone because we are all in different seasons. But let people know your standard in your way. Yes, we are all imperfect and we take some actions that can make others question our faith, but that doesn’t negate the fact that God loves you and you desire to love Him back.
When you do this, a few things happen:
- You’ll be left out of evil plots against the organisation because the plotters will know your stance.
- People subconsciously start to trust what you say because you try to speak wisdom whenever you talk.
- Your mannerisms separate you from the rest. Yes, you may feel excluded, but you’ll also be considered for key assignments.
- You’ll be approached with temptations.
- Other believers will become bold enough to let the company know their standards too.
Be the light. Help others walk the path you’ve walked.

These don’t have to be recent events, but they are testimonies you’ll write down now and share with others later when the opportunity arises.
I thanked God for specific events in my career, marriage, and life. Hopefully, these ideas help you.
