Power Up Your SPIRIT
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Acts 20:24 NLT
I once had a cooking experience I’ll never forget.
The meal was Spaghetti, and I was in charge. I pulled the strands from the pack and broke them into the pot. One strand escaped the pot and landed on the gas cooker.
After the meal was done, I picked up the lone strand and said the following (paraphrased):
“You are Spaghetti and your calling is to be cooked and eaten. But you decided not to fulfil this assignment because you were afraid of the fire. So, you jumped out.
Now, I have no use for you. I’ll just have to throw you into the trash. Perhaps you’ll find something else to do there.”
I opened the trash can and threw it in, shaking my head while at it.
I know the subject of purpose has many questions, but one foundation we all need to remember as Christians is that whatever we do must testify of God’s gift to us – Jesus Christ.
Today, there are unique ways to do this, without climbing the church altar or being called “Pastor”.
If you’re not sure how this can work for you, pray, and ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to spread the good news through what you do.
Hack Your BODY
How can I spread the good news through my work?
The list of methods is endless, but here are a few options that you can combine.
- Create time to regularly volunteer in a church or Christian non-profit as a worker, alongside your job or business. This requires more time investment, but it parallels your regular job.
- Tell your career story every chance you get and how Jesus helped you through it all. This works if you are active on social media and/or get speaking opportunities.
- Build a successful career on your Christian values and give back later in life by showing other people how being a Christian is a key ingredient for success. Many people go this route, but those who die before reaching success will never get the chance to do this.
- Find the unbelievers in your workplace and tell them about Jesus, sharing personal testimonies. Some cultures may not allow this during work hours, so after-hours in a different location will be appropriate.
- Build a business or get a job whose core message shares the good news, while providing solutions to customers through products and services.
There’s so much more, but this should set you in the right direction.

Counting your blessings is how you pull out those moments that have become testimonies for you. These stories form the bedrock of what you share with others.
So, what are you grateful for, and how did Jesus step in?
