“Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess because we can trust God to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10:23 GNT
Have people made promises to you that they didn’t keep? When the first promise isn’t kept, it’s easy to give them a benefit of doubt. But when they consistently fail, you start to lose hope in such people.
I have someone like that in my life whom I had to tell to stop making promises until he did them. There was no point in having hope for something that may never happen.
But God is not just a promise maker but a keeper too. This gives us many reasons to hope. We see from scripture that He made so many promises, which He has consistently kept.
For this reason, we know that He won’t waiver on ensuring the promises over our lives are met.
In the scriptures, we will find a promise for every possible life event. So, the next time you feel doubtful of God’s promise concerning a challenging situation you’re going through, think back on how He has been faithful in the past, and you’ll find renewed hope for the present.
How can we hold firmly to God’s promises when work becomes a nightmare?
As we work each day, we go through cycles of fulfilment and unfulfillment, stress and strength, inspiration and demotivation. These cycles happen based on the seasons of our lives and what we commit to.
In trying times, it’s difficult to find hope and sometimes easy to throw in the towel and just walk away from everything. I’ve had such moments one too many.
But each time, I am reminded that I was placed on earth for a reason and uniquely empowered for something great. If God gave me the gifts I have, then it’s for a reason.
And each time I remember how He showed up even when I was down and out, it made it easier to pull through current trials. After all, God who was faithful before is still faithful.
Eventually, the strong wind always goes away and the season calms. Knowing that this will happen gives hope for today.
Every time you wake up to do your Father’s business, say to yourself, “Today is a great day” because every day is an opportunity to experience God’s faithfulness.
“The next time I feel unfulfilled, I will remind myself of the following promises…”
We always need to remind ourselves of God’s promises, so it wouldn’t hurt to do some study and make a list.
Write down the areas that make you feel unfulfilled, and consistently get better at finding scriptures that target those specific areas.
