“In the beginning, God (Elohim) created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 AMP
The Bible is simply God’s attempt to tell His story of how He works so that we understand Him better. Without it, we’ll form different perceptions and miss the whole point of God’s love for us.
The first thing we know about God is that He has existed since the beginning, creating the universe from nothing.
Thinking about how that is possible will only leave us with more questions. But there’s a takeaway from this.
When you read further down the chapter, God introduces man as a form of creation in His image. And just like God created in the beginning, we can also create in the beginning.
What is the beginning? This new year is a type of beginning. As man, we have several beginnings, and when we do not create in those beginnings, we become susceptible to the creations of others.
So, how do you want the year 2024 to look like? If you’ve not created your heaven and earth yet, now is the time.
How can we hit the refresh button at work?
After my wife and I listened to the Crossover sermon at church, it felt like God had given us another chance to correct all the mistakes we made with our work in 2023. It felt like the scales fell off our eyes, and in split seconds, we saw what we had to do to make 2024 a better year. That’s what hitting a refresh button feels like.
Have you assessed the previous year so you have a better strategy for this year? What universe do you want to create this year?
God was able to create from nothing. But we create from something – our experiences, mistakes, successes, skills, knowledge, gifts, etc.
Don’t just continue work as usual. Hit the refresh button. Take stock of all the raw materials you can create from and make 2024 your best creation yet. That’s your work deliverable for this season.

Go beyond work and look at the beginnings in other aspects of your life. A new year is always a new opportunity to turn a fresh page.
And guess what? Even if you’re in the middle of a book chapter, every new page is a new beginning. So, complete this statement: In the beginning, I created _________.
