“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] The earth was without form, and void.” Genesis 1:1-2 NKJV
There’s always something without form and empty at every phase in life. They’ve never existed before and patiently wait for us to call them forth into reality.
This could be that business you’ve not started, that relationship you’ve not ignited, or that book you’ve not read. Anything that’s yet to be done has no form in our minds and stays empty until we take the first step.
When we eventually make a move, we begin to create, putting flesh around that once empty situation. The moment you open that book, the words start having an impression on your mind, creating pictures that were never there.
This was also God’s situation—faced with a formless world that He was yet to create. But the amazing thing is He knew what he wanted to create. In His spirit, He had gotten to the end, with the earth already created. All that was left was a physical manifestation.
How do we create through work?
For us to give form to something, it must have expression. When you start thinking about a new business idea, it doesn’t have form until you take the first step, even if that step is writing down that idea. That’s a way to give expression to something invisible.
The second step is process. Creation cannot happen without following a creation process. It doesn’t matter how creative you are in your heart; if a proper process isn’t followed, that work can never be a masterpiece. It’ll go unappreciated, irrespective of the genius mind behind it.
There would be no Genesis 2 if chapter 1 didn’t follow a creation process. With a process, we get to appreciate the creativity expressed in every element. Process brings order to creating form around anything.
So the next time you do something and it goes unappreciated, check your process. You may have creativity, but the process to manifestation may be flawed. This is why God takes us through a process – He doesn’t want flawed results.
