Help! My Earthly Suit Has Taken Over

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 NLT‬

When astronauts need to go into space, they must wear space suits. Without these suits, they can’t survive. When divers decide to visit the depths of the ocean, they wear diving gear. Without this, they could die.As spiritual beings, we are similar. There was no way we could exist on earth as spirits. So, we have body suits that help us have earthly experiences.At different points in our lives, that earthly suit takes control and makes us forget who we are. We function in the flesh, ignoring our true identities.But as we accept God’s gift of salvation, our spirit becomes empowered. As we embrace the new power within us, the flesh loses its hold and “dies.”. There would have been no need for this to happen, but in the beginning, the enemy made us give power to our suits. Just imagine a space suit having control over the astronaut inside it. It’s unimaginable. But that’s what happened.Now, with our identities restored, we can become all God wants us to be.

How can we ensure we are always empowered above self to do good work?

When astronauts need to step out of their capsule, they have their suits on. But in their capsule, their suits come off, and they can eat, play, and have all the fun they want.Sometimes, we must enter our capsules, pause, and let our spirits soar. When we decide to feed our spirits in the secret place through word study and meditation, we recharge our batteries for the assignment ahead.We’re not in this world to just stay in our capsules. We must actively use our earthly suits to carry out our mission.But know this: astronauts don’t stay in space forever. Nor do they wear their suits forever. When our mission is complete, we also get to take off our suits as we journey back home. So, what mission have you been empowered for?
