“Be merciful to those who doubt;” Jude 1:22 NIV
Where there’s a message, faith and doubt must be present. They’re like half-brothers, always showing up when you’re about to make a critical decision or form new beliefs.
When you attempt to talk about something you believe in, some will believe in what you’re saying. They’ll hear you out and jump at whatever you’re offering.
Others will doubt you in different magnitudes. They’ll have questions and objections; sincerely, such people might need answers.
As the giver of the message, we can sometimes become emotional and focus on those who have faith in what we just shared. When we do this, we lose sight of the others who seem lost and genuinely have questions that will guide them back.
How can we help people have faith in our message?
Your work has a message. God is trying to reach a set of people through what you do. When you realise this, you’ll see that there are people who have questions that you can answer.
I help people build passion projects, and it can be tempting to focus on those who believe they can and are motivated enough to start. But there are those with serious doubts about their ability and my methods.
It’s in my best interest to find out those objections and eliminate them. Otherwise, these people will never become students or clients.
You’re also offering something to people and require them to believe you when you speak. You don’t have to be in sales or be an evangelist for this. You are a brand, and every brand has people who believe and people who don’t.
The first step in moving people from doubt to faith is to have the intent to help. To have mercy, you must be willing enough to hear them out and not punish them for having questions.
Once your heart is in the right place, answer their questions with the Holy Spirit’s help. The result is that more people will move to the side of faith. You’ll also have those who’ll remain doubtful and may or may not come around. That’s okay.
The bottom line is never giving up on anyone because they don’t accept you. God never gave up on us, so we shouldn’t either.
“I am a patient and merciful brand.”
What’s your message? Why do you want people to believe what you say? How can you be merciful to those who doubt you?
Let’s be to others who our heavenly father has been to us. We’ll build more influence and bring more people to Christ.
