“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 2:5 NKJV
How different would your work be if you had the mind of Christ? How much damage would you do through your work to the kingdom of darkness if you were selfless, cared for the needs of others, did all things with humility, and depended solely on God even when others spat at you?
The Epistles of Paul focus a lot on our minds and why we have to think a certain way to enter into what God has for us.
From the parable of the talents in Matthew 25, we know that it’s possible to be called but still do things wrongly because of poor mindsets. So, it’s not enough to just say you believe. There’s more work to be done.
If the people of this world leverage mental tactics and metaphysical practices to get what they want, that should tell you that the combination of the mind and the Holy Spirit is an arsenal for the average believer.
We need both to rightly transform our gifts into resources that can bless the world and to do the work God has called us to do.
How does having the mind of Christ transform our work?
I was the managing editor of a media company for a while and had to interview several high-net-worth individuals for a monthly magazine we published.
During my stay there and other experiences in my career, I have met selfless people who started NGOs that empower thousands of children. I have seen how caring for the needs of others causes them to create products from that compassion, giving them millions of dollars in sales as a benefit.
I have seen how being down to earth and realising they’re nothing without God gives younger people like me access to their space, gleaning from their experience and leaving with benefits money can’t buy.
I have seen how being bold about their faith in front of important people has given new believers a reason to be unafraid to influence their own communities, not caring who leaves and who stays.
There’s a bigger purpose behind you and me being here. It’s beyond what we can see. As Paul advised in Philippians 4:8, being intentional about what we meditate on will make all the difference.

We must yield to God’s plans more so that the flesh doesn’t rule our minds. As spiritual beings, we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.
