Have you ever walked through a dark place without being terrified because you were with someone trustworthy who could help you?Having this special someone close helps us feel secure and confident enough to face the craziness ahead. I’ve felt that way with my wife, my dad, my Pastor and other people.But one thing that stands out is that the fear is there. It exists and there will always be reasons to be afraid. God knows this and saw the need to encourage the Israelites, assuring them that He was by their side.The enemy uses the fear we project to craft his weapons. That’s why they are “fashioned against us”. What you fear greatly can come to pass, just like it did for Job.And so, God is saying, “Before that fear gets out of control and gives the enemy a stronghold, get rid of it because I am here”.Do you fear success, failure, intimacy, visibility, money or love? They are all valid, but they only have the power you give them.Allow God’s presence to make you strong and courageous by presenting your fears to him and watch the terror vanish.
How does fear hold us back from doing exceptional work?
For years I told myself that I wasn’t meant to be visible, so backend roles suited me the most. While this was true based on my skills and personality, it slowly grew into a fear of visibility.Before I knew it, ten years had passed and I realized I had run away from something that could have skyrocketed my career and impact.I don’t have regrets, just lessons that enable me to share my story in articles like this so you can either avoid it or also realise you’re in the same position and fix it.Fear is a valid response that wants to keep us safe. But it sometimes causes us to press the brakes on our lives.This stops us from becoming. We limit our growth and settle. But that’s not God’s plan. He says, “Don’t settle, hit the gas and I’ll ride with you.”

To overcome any fear, you have to be aware of what it is, what it has cost you and what it could cost you.Sometimes the risk of what you stand the lose breaks all obstacles in your way. So, make your list today and hit the gas. You’re unstoppable!
