“This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn’t life worth more than food? And isn’t the body worth more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25 GNT
We exist in a physical realm, and so it’s easy to only think about what happens here, without giving much thought to the spiritual side.We prioritise the things we can see and struggle to understand what we can’t see. What we don’t understand, we can’t worry about. But when we have knowledge and understanding of something and we don’t see it, we can obsess over it.Nobody says we shouldn’t think about what we will eat or wear. Planning is a practice with roots in the bible too. The issue is when we add impatience, dissatisfaction, and lack to our thinking. At this point, it becomes worry.Worry robs us of what we can receive from God physically. This is because the Kingdom of God doesn’t run on worry but faith.Just as you pray to God to provide and protect you, ask Him to cleanse your thoughts so you worry less and build your faith some more.
How can we deal with worry when work doesn’t cover our physical needs?
God works with us differently. For example, I realized over time that when God wants to bless me financially, He sends me a new client. But this isn’t the same for everyone. My wife, for example, can be led by the Holy Spirit to pray with someone or create a free class and then He’ll send someone to bless her financially to show that He sees her.God knows our needs, and sometimes, our work may not directly lead to revenue for us. But value translates in different ways. When we worry about why we don’t make enough money from what we do, even when we know it’s the right thing, we give the adversary a reason to use our thoughts and fears against us.To deal with this, recognise the patterns in your life. Every time you do something God wants you to do, what miraculous events happen after?Every time you express your needs to Him, in what ways has He met them? This will give you a cue of how God works with you. This way, when you have needs and are about to start worrying, remember how God met similar needs in the past. Recount them, and your faith will be renewed.
“God has met my past needs in the following ways….”
The hustle and bustle of life stops us from pausing to appreciate God’s goodness. When we receive what we’ve asked for, it’s possible to mindlessly thank God and move on, without recognising the channels He used. Now, let’s take stock of our blessings. You will see a pattern that will transform how you keep your faith going forward.
